Pink Ivory varies in color from a pale brownish pink, to a vibrant, almost neon pink, to a deep red. Most typically the most valuable pieces of Pink Ivory are vibrant pink. The Grain is usually a fine texture, with a uniformly, tight grain. The Pink Ivory wood is extremely durable and resistant to decay, and owns excellent weathering characteristics. It has a reputation of being rare and a scarce commodity, it is typically very expensive, usually on par with Gaboon Ebony. Rumors also spread that the tree was considered royal to the Zulus in South Africa in the 1800’s.
Ella Bing was very fortunate to obtain a single piece of this wood, making just one bow tie. This is our only Pink Ivory bow tie that we will probably ever produce. It has very strong lines which compliment its pink hue very well. We feel this bow tie lends itself very nicely to the southern Florida style, given its pink nature. For those gentlemen who want to take bow tie wearing to another level and want to stand out just a bit more at their next cocktail party, this preppy bow tie is for you.
